Coffee Crisis!

Yesterday morning we had a coffee crisis. With two coffee drinkers in the house and one who drinks a pot at work a day you would think we would be very mindful not to run out. Well you'd be wrong. Sure some of it "could" be my fault since I have been putting off grocery shopping since we returned home from vacation, but let's not point fingers.

So after hubbz finally woke up and before he was even out of the bathroom I was asking him where the coffee went. "We're out" he replied. This I understood..duhhh as my girls would say, but why wasn't I aware....what was I going to do now and why wasn't he freaking out?

I decide to post my coffee frustration on Facebook and do some blogging. Maybe that would distract me. After a few minutes I go back in to the kitchen to see hubbz (being the Marine that he is) has adapted and overcome our coffee situation.

He remembered we had some single serving instant Folgers in the pantry. He cut those bad boys open and poured them all into our machine. This is why I married him, such a problem solver. It actually wasn't half bad, but I was glad when we finally went grocery shopping (basically just for the coffee). So here I sit, writing this post with a hot cup of my Hazelnut coffee with delish coconut cream creamer (which thanks to Michelle I am very addicted to).... Life is good once again.

Mommy Bento #13

It's been awhile since mommy had a bento for lunch so today was the perfect day. As always my bento is packed into my Easy Lunch Boxes containers.  This weekend we took the girls to SeaPort Village and while we were there stopped at a cafe for lunch. I got the chicken caesar wrap which for 10 bucks was awful! I didn't know it but they put down a layer of rice..which you would think would have been yummy, but oh no, the rice was severely undercooked and crunchy and there was no flavor or seasoning, not even salt and pepper in this wrap..it was a mess. Hubbz also for 10 bucks got a BLT. Now again I thought for that amount of money it would have thick slices of tomatoes and maybe a special bacon like black pepper or maple bacon or something...wrong again Steph, C could have whipped up a better sandwich than what he had. Oh well like I told hubbz, we tried it, it sucked and we move on...you live and learn.

Today I decided to make my own BLT and it was delish! Thick slices of ripe tomatoes, crispy bacon and cool crisp lettuce all layered inside a soft, fresh from the bakery croissant. Now this I would have spent 10 bucks for easy. Paired with some sliced English cucumbers with champaign dressing and ice cold grapes, this was the best lunch I have had in awhile.

Muffin Tin Monday - Numbers

This weeks theme for Muffin Tin Monday is Numbers. I missed last week due to being on vacation and tried as I might to do a "makeup" tin but it has been just too busy. So yay for busting this one out today. I still have not gone grocery shopping, but I guess we had more in our freezer and pantry than I thought because we are surviving..lol

You'll notice our tin is not as uniformed as it normally is. What's a little chaos thrown into an otherwise predictable tin I would normally do?

1 - Mac N Cheese with pepperoni
2 - 2 baby carrots with tortilla
3 - C has snap peas with cheese while M has cookies...because she is 3.
4 - 4 chunks of fresh mango with fruit roll up
5 - C now gets her cookies and M has the snap peas (however I just noticed there is only 4..hmmm..I blame the dog)
6 - Yogurt with sprinkles

For more awesome MTM'ers and their tins stop by the Original Home of Muffin Tin Monday and see what all the fun is about!

Surprise From Virginia

The girls and I love getting packages in the mail and even more so when they it is a surprise box! The anticipation of what is inside is almost more than the girls can stand sometimes..lol. So when we returned home from our vacation it was awesome to have a surprise package waiting for us. My girlfriend Jenn from VA recently joined our bento and MTM fun and as a thank you for introducing her to it she sent us a fun package full of goodies!

Unfortunately the princess lids did not make the cross country journey. It's all good though because the bottoms are a perfect size for the bentos we do at home so we don't need lids.

Egg Cups..aren't they adorable!!

These tin are so gorgeous I kinda don't want to use them...but I will..lol

Jenn has just recently started a blog called Two Rotten Monkey's, where she posts her bento and MTM creations along with her family trips and more. So please pop on over and check her out and maybe welcome her to this awesome blogosphere we love so much :)

Thanks Jenn for thinking of us and all the cool prizes, you rock!

Back Home Bento

While we have already been home for a few days I still have yet to go grocery shopping. The girls were begging for a bento lunch so I decided to make one with whatever I could find that hadn't gone bad while we were away...thank goodness for the freezer..lol

So today we have a cheesy noodle, carrot and broccoli mix with turkey dogs. The side tins have baby carrots, mixed nuts and alphabet cookies.  I love the heart hot dogs. I found them on another blog I started following through Twitter and just knew my girls would love them. However I can not remember the blog name, (it was before I left for vaca)  but as soon as I can find her I will pass her wed address on to you :)

Three Days And A Wedding

So Day 2-4 was all about my BFF/sister Lisa's wedding. That's right, it was a triple header. From rehearsal dinner, family bbq's, flower arrangements, decorations and the actual wedding day..we were some pretty busy girls. Even my ultra loving hubby was pulled into the mix running errands, watching kids and becoming the decorator for the family bbq, and he did it with all the love in the world and happiness to see our sister get married to a wonderful man.

So here is 3 days worth of pictures (about 1000) crammed into this little blog post... :)

Good To Be Home - Old Sac & State Capital

As much as I love my friends and family 7 days away from our normal routine and my comfy bed is about as long as I can go. However my sister's wedding was amazing, shopping in Old Sac is always fun, visiting with high school BFF's was a blast and hanging in San Francisco was a wonderful finish to the long week.

I was going to add just a couple pictures from each day on vaca to this post but soon realized it would be a very long post because we got so many great pictures. So instead I will post a few pics of each day over the next several days. Awesome Food In Old Sac You Must Try!

We are still in NorCal, my sisters wedding yesterday was as gorgeous as she was (pictures to follow later). We are all tired and missing our own beds, but seeing her walk down the isle and standing next to her as her Maid Of Honor was well worth it. Before the 3 day wedding festivities began we took the girls Thursday to Old Sac for some shopping and fun. We stopped at a local corner bar for lunch called Sports Corner Cafe. This is a place I had been to many times before in my 20's but it was to grab a drink...wow I missed something good. That day their special was a bacon cheese burger with fries for just 7 bucks! Sounded awesome to use so we headed inside.

This was my kind of place. It was a bar in all sense of the word but we were able to take the girls inside which some bars that serve food you can not. It was not busy, a few patrons hanging out on the bar stools drinking their draft beers. We grabbed a table and promptly ordered two Shirley Temples for each girl followed by a "half n half" which is of course a half order of fries with a half order of onion rings. We sat back, looked around, a immediately was comfortable.

The waitress/bartender was a sweet heart and the food was awesome! Everything was perfectly cooked and was a little surprised to see the cook had a light hand when it came to the deep fryer. Now a days we should be so lucky if the chicken strips aren't a dark, over cooked burnt color and as dry as the desert. These fries, onion rings and even the girls chicken strips were cooked just perfect...and my burger, OMG juicy and delish!

C enjoying her drink....

M being silly...

Me enjoying my family and.....

...enjoying my Gin and Tonic with an olive and a twist.

Hubby's Blue Moon draft....

Our delish half n half....

..and my amazing, juicy, still sizzling burger!

So if you ever find yourself in Old Sacramento and want a yummy place to eat with good service and reasonable pricing belly up to the bar at the Sports Corner Cafe.
