Curious George Bento

C's Lunch (plus hummus)

M's Lunch

This morning while watching the girls sing and dance to the Curious George theme song I realized that that would be a perfect for todays bento. Let me tell you it has been one busy day and yet I still managed to get it done. This morning I had a breakfast playdate with 8 other mommies in my home then my sweet friend Michelle from Muffin Tin Mom came by for a visit. So in between all this I made the girls this for lunch today.

I just now realized I forgot George's nose..darn! I knew something was off. Anyways, I made him using mini pita pockets (I finally bought some Shannon..lol ) and bologna. String cheese slice for the eyes and nori for all details. They also had carrot sticks, mini oranges, a quail egg with a nori face. In the second box they have blueberries, watermelon, grapes, string cheese and Jello. Minus the nose I am kind of excited with how it turned out.

This is my What's For Lunch Weds (Week 6) entry. Stop by and see what other wonderful bentos have been created this week at Shannon's blog What's For Lunch At Our House.

This turned out great! I agree with the rest, we wouldn't have noticed the nose thing if you hadn't pointed it out.

Hi Stephanie,

I never read Curious George when I was little, but this lunch would have definitely made me interested in him! Making a meal based on your girls’ favorite cartoon character is such a great way to get them excited about lunch! I work for the Healthy Monday campaigns, which just started a new program called The Kids Cook Monday. It encourages families to cook and eat meals together in order to teach kids how to eat right. Studies have shown that kids who eat family meals get better grades in school, are less likely to be obese, and develop communication skills. Cooking together also helps teach them important skills such as teamwork, following instructions, and even motor skills. To learn more about the benefits of cooking and eating together, check out the website at http://www.healthymonday.org/the-kids-cook-monday/

We’re looking for families to take on the challenge of starting of the week right by cooking and eating together, then posting about their experiences on their blog. If you’re interested in participating, please contact me at TheKidsCookMonday@gmail.com. Thanks!

Mayo
