I am happy to announce Sew Fierce has been able to help out another "Mompreneur" team by donating product for their Giant Gift Basket Giveaway. There are so many wonderful businesses involved and they are receiving more and more product everyday to add to the basket. Mine was shipped out this week so they should be receiving it in a few days, yay!
See the press release below for details on how you can enter this great giveaway by helping them rename their product.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SISTER-“MOMPRENEURS” ANNOUNCE NATIONAL CONTEST TO RENAME THEIR PRODUCT AFTER CORPORATE THREAT
CHARLESTON, S.C., JULY 27, 2009– Small business owners and sisters Rhett & Neyle Templeton recently learned how childish corporate life can be when giant Playtex Corporation ordered them to drop the “Binky” from their signature product, the Heirloom Binky Bracelet.
“Binky” seemed to be a cute, generic word helping describe the sterling silver pacifier holder (which converts to a keepsake bracelet for posterity) that the sisters created for their co-owned business, Templeton’s – Timeless Infant Silver. Both stay-at-home moms, Rhett & Neyle epitomize the success of the “Mompreneur” movement, having received national publicity for their products on “The Drs” TV show, as well as promotion in “swag bags” for Hollywood babies.
All was peaceful until Playtex confronted Templeton’s last week with a “cease and desist” order to drop “Binky” from their name. It turns out “Binky” is trademarked as Playtex’s pacifier brand.
With only five business days to follow through, the Templetons turned a jarring setback into opportunity, and not just for themselves, announcing a contest to rename their product.
“The contest will be announced on August 7th on the Charleston morning show Lowcountry Live with Ryan Nelson,” co-owner Rhett Templeton said.
There will be one Grand Prize Winner, who will receive a large basket stuffed with “Infant to Mommy” Products from clients of the PR and Marketing Company Baby Swags, which places “mompreneur” creations in swag bags for celebrities.
Baby Swags owner Phyllis Pometta stepped in immediately to help when she learned of the sisters’ business crisis, Templeton noted. “From the U.S. to Canada as well as Australia, the generosity of our peers and their willingness to help another small business in need has been overwhelming.”
Contest rules can be found on the Templeton’s website, www.TempletonSilver.com. The Grand Prize Basket products can be viewed both there and on Baby Swags’ website, www.BabySwagsPR.wordpress.com. The contest is open to all.

Event Chaser Member

I am so excited to announce I am now an Official EventChaser Correspondent! What is this you may be asking? EventChaser members cover events around the globe by receiving free tickets in exchange for writing reviews with pictures of the event you attend. From concert tickets, Broadway shows, circus tickets and more you are the person on the inside to maybe help someone else decided whether or not they want to attend the same event. Tell your readers about traffic, the best driving route to the venue, where to park, places to eat and or local attractions . My first assignment is the Ringing Bros B&B Circus next week. I have not been to the circus since I was a child so of course neither have my girls. I can not wait to see the look on their little faces when the big spot light hits the center ring and the excitement begins.
Dolphin Doodles Review & Giveaway
Knitting and crocheting has been something I always wanted to learn how to do. The talent and patience it must take to make beautiful handmade blankets, clothing and more is amazing to me. The creative mind behind Dolphin Doodles is no exception. Beth is the owner and creator of this wonderful Etsy Shop. At just 16 she learned the craft from her mother and grandmother and expanded her skills over the past year from online tutorials. Specializing in childrens items such as hats and shoes, from time to time you will find other great items like play food, diaper covers, kitchen and bath items and clothing for adults.
When I received a package from Beth I was so excited. I could not have anticipated how awesome her products would be until I saw them in person. WOW! Now my mom has been visiting for the past weeks so she was here for the revel. As someone who has knitted and crocheted off and on for her whole life she was very impressed. What was in the box you may ask....
How adorable are these hats! The work is amazing and the colors are fantastic. The pattern for each hat is completely different and I think it actually compliments my girls individual personalities. The hat for M is so dainty with scalloped edges and C's open weave Cloche is breathtaking with the 2 different techniques that come together as one seamless work of art. Lets talk about sturdy! You know the quality of craftsmanship is great when the girls jam them on their heads and rip them off again and again and they still look amazing.
How was your shop started?
I crochet a lot in my free time and I was always making gifts for my family. When my cousin was pregnant I had made her some shoes and hats for her little one, Everyone at the shower raved about them and I was asked to make several sets for other people. This was about 11 months ago. I was jobless at the time so I decided to start making and selling my items on Ebay. But because of the high fees on Ebay I went over to Etsy and I have been on there ever since.
How do you reach out to your community through what you do?
I do a lot of volunteer work. I use to work at a local hospital here down in the dietary department. Now I do not work there so much anymore. I mostly donate lots of items to different charities. Once a year I pick a charity and crochet a bunch of items that they need and deliver them. This year it is Ronald McDonald House out of Loyola University Hospital. I will be donating a bunch of booties to them later on this year. The other project which I am almost done doing is for Connection for Abused Women and Their Children. I am donating hats to that organization. I have more information on the donations and my progress on my blog.
Which is dolphin-doodles.blogspot.com.
What other things do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy the outdoors a lot. Normally in the summer time you can find me on my patio crocheting and enjoying the summer weather. I go camping at least once every year during the summer time. Volunteering is also a favorite past time of mine. I am a huge movie buff so I love going to the movies and also shopping at craft stores. I am always looking for some new craft to try.
A Little Funny..
As a mommy of 1 beagle basset mix fur baby she adopted from her local shelter, she tells a very funny story of how her pup is actually afraid of yarn. He will not come any where near it and when she's crocheting at night he will sit all the way on the opposite side of the room. How cute is that?

Favorite Recipe Blog Hop
I made this just a few days ago and it is fantastic! What is wonderful is you can use any flavor Jell-O pudding and it is still wonderful.
Chocolate Eclair Squares
Makes 16 servings
2 Cups Cold Milk
2 pkg (3.4 oz each) Jell-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 Tub (8 oz) COOl WHIP, thawed
64 NILLA Wafers
2 squares BAKER'S Semi Sweet Chocolate (I did not do this)
Make It!
Beat milk and pudding (or low speed on a mixer) for 2 minutes Stir in COOL WHIP.
Arrange 16 wafers on bottom of 8 inch square dish; cover with 1/3 of pudding mixture. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining wafers. Chill 4 hours.
Microwave chocolate in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min or until melted when stirred. Drizzle Over dessert and serve.
This is so delish and rich! I recommend waiting 24 hours before eating it. Then the NILLA Wafers are nice and soft like ladies fingers. Next time I am using Banana Cream Pudding..yummm!
ENJOY!!

Birdy's Boutique Review & Giveaway
I am so thrilled to bring to you a new up and coming Etsy Store called Birdy's Boutique. This store just opened in March 2009 and already has a great following. The owner of Birdy's Boutique Robyn has given me the honor of reviewing her Snack Saks. Wahoo!
As soon as I pulled the Snack Sak out of the packaging, I was in love! First I adore Amy Butler Fabrics and the one I received was the French Wallpaper. With muslin lined inside and a simple Velcro closure I could not wait to try it out. What else was in my package? That's right, a second Snack Bag. This one I purchased, how could I not, you can not have just one Snack Sak! The second one is also made of Amy Butler fabric, Sweet Rose Brown. This one was lined with nylon which made me wonder if is water resistant. Apparently it is and has the same wonderful Velcro closure.
My girls love using these bags. I fill the nylon lined one with grapes and the other with cereal or goldfish. What I really like besides being stylish and affordable at only $5.00, is that both my girls have no problem opening or closing the bags. I know some Velcro can either be too tough to pull a part or it just doesn't stay together. Not these Snack Saks, they are perfect.
Let me introduce you to the owner of Birdy's Boutique, Robyn:
Why did you start Birdy's Boutique?
I started Birdy’s Boutique because I wanted to share my snack bags.
What was your inspiration for making the Snack bags?
My daughter was my inspiration. We take snacks with us on the weekends and they always ended up in a plastic bag. I wanted to “go green” so I started looking around to what was out there. I had seen a few other snack bags, but they were boring and plain with no bright colors or patterns. I fell in love with Amy Butler and Michael Miller fabric because of their bold designs. The more I thought about the bags, the more ways I thought to design them. I thought the D-ring style was perfect for those small hands that like to throw everything. Mom could attach the bag to a stroller and know she wasn’t going to lose it or have to keep picking it up while on the go. I attach mine to my golf bag and fill it up with crackers. It’s much easier than trying to dig through my large bag to find a snack between holes. One of my co-workers came up with the idea of the flat bottom bags. That way the bag stands up on a desk so you can have easy access to your snack. I make the simple ones for everyday use. My daughter and I use a snack bag everyday for a sandwich or a goody.
When you’re not sewing for your shop, what do you like to do?
I enjoy spending time with my family. My daughter loves animals so we spend a lot of time at the Zoo and Sea World. During the summer, I try to make a little me time and golf.
Tell us something fun or quirky about yourself.
I recently took up Archery and love it.
How to get your own Snack Bag?
For only $5.00 you can purchase them at Birdy's Boutique, that's right only 5 bucks!!
